Newman HughNEWMAN, Hugh Osborne   -  1924 - 2021  With peace in our hearts, we share the news of the passing of Hugh Osborne Newman on June 24, 2021 in Ottawa, Ontario.

We, his family and friends, are the custodians of many wonderful memories and much wisdom that he shared generously with us during his life.

He was predeceased in 2011 by his loving and adventurous wife, Ruth, who was his best friend and constant companion for 61 years. His children, who will continue to cherish his memory, are Patricia (Tony Gillies) of Thunder Bay, ON; Joyce (John Tickner) of Fredericton, NB; Laura of Sarnia, ON; and Melinda (Steve Sawyer) of Ottawa, ON.

He will be lovingly remembered by his 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandsons.

He leaves to mourn, one sister, Cecile Turnbull of Alberta, and one sister-in-law, Dorothy, of Houston, TX.

He was predeceased by his parents, 6 brothers, and 1 sister. Born and raised in Jamaica WI, he joined the RAF and travelled to Canada, England, India and points east.

After the war, and study in England to become an accountant, he landed in Trinidad.

Here he met and married Ruth, later moving to Canada and working for NCR (Toronto and Waterloo) for 30+ years.

He missed Mom sorely these past ten years since her death. He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, a model of decency and thoughtfulness, a gentleman and a gentle man.

He understood the importance of a 'Thank You'.

A special thank you for the compassionate care and attention provided by everyone at Forest Hill in Kanata.

Donations may be made to a dementia society, Bruyere Continuing Care, or a charity of your choice.

In memory of Dad please share a smile, choose to be happy, and enjoy the view from your own personal window of life. And remember: Life doesn't have to be perfect to be wonderful.
