Solo VeraSOLO, Vera   - Peacefully, surrounded by family, on July 1, 2021.

Born May 15, 1943, to Olga and Nicholas Onischuk. She is survived by her husband Walter, her son Matthew and his wife Erin, her daughter Alanna and her partner Elspeth, her grandchildren Zachary and Ashley, and her sister Louise Kot.

Growing up in Hamilton, she formed lifelong friendships and shared adventures with her extended family, niece Kimberly and nephews Mark and Wayne.

She ecstatically cheered on the Hamilton Tiger Cats team. While studying for her Master of Education at the University of Toronto she met Walter.

After enjoying many travels through Europe with dear friends and meeting new ones, Vera and Walter married in 1971.

Married for 50 years, they created a wonderful and supportive family life for their children full of travel, arts and music.

In recent years she found joy as a grandmother watching Zachary and Ashley grow.

While teaching at Brown Public School, Vera was known for her warmth, passion for reading and appreciation of language.

Amongst her favourite accomplishments were fostering creativity in her students and the meaningful friendships she developed with her colleagues.

Always bringing cheer to the party and naturally connecting with anyone, she was a lifelong friend to many.

She is at peace now and will be profoundly missed by everyone.

If wished, memorial donations can be made to the Cummer Lodge Long-Term Care Home through DonateTO: donations.toronto.ca.
