WAPSHOTT, John Arthur   - John Arthur Wapshott passed away June 24, 2021 to be with his deceased father and best friend, John Alfred Wapshott, and his deceased loving mother Florence Eileen Wapshott (Laccohee).

John is survived by his sister, Carol Florence White (Robert) and his niece Tiffany Adele Happy and his nephew Bradley James White (Sarah).

John (Uncle Jackie) will be forever remembered by Tiffany and Brad and his great-nieces and nephews, Madison, Sawyer, Tatum and Gwyneth Happy, Royal Walsh, Hero and River White, for his colourful character, extraordinary creativity and his unconditional generosity.

Pride in his family name prompted John in the 1980's to research and contact a family historian, Martin Vincent, located in London England, who confirmed that the Wapshott name was indeed English in origin, very very old and uniquely limited in origin to one family living on The Wapshott Farm located to the north west of Surrey.

Legend has it that King Alfred the Great granted the Wapshott family this parcel of land located on the River Bourne, near Surrey which the family and their descents cultivated up until the nineteenth century.

John's geneology search then led him to Australia where he contacted a branch of the Wapshotts who had immigrated to Australia in 1882.

This resulted in his trip to the Antipodes where he was excited to meet up with numerous Wapshotts at a family gathering arranged in his honour. Interestingly enough many had not met each other before John's visit. While in Australia, John was delighted to have made contacts with several Meccano clubs.

As a valued member of the Canadian Meccano Club, he treasured serving as a First Vice President and receiving his honoured title of Head Curmudgeon.

Over many decades John built numerous unique and complex models using his Mecanno and Erector collections to present at numerous Mecanno Exhibitions across Ontario.

John also cherished his many years as a member of the Toy Collector's Society.

John's lifetime motto was: "He who dies with the most toys wins." YOU WON UNCLE JACKIE!!!

Family interment will take place at a future date.

Rest in Peace Uncle Jackie.
