SPEARS, Dr. John C.    -  On July 22, 2021 in his 89th year, after a brief illness that he faced with courage and strength.

Son of the late Colin and Jean Spears (née McVicar); predeceased by his brother James in childhood.

Loving and beloved husband of the late Ellen Spears (née Thomson).

Adored father of Andrew (Laleh Moshiri), Jennifer Léger (David), Ian (Sarah Atkinson), and Martha. Wonderful Grandad to nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Born in London, Ontario, graduate of the University of Western Ontario Medical School (Class of '57), and member of the first UWO Men's Rowing team.

A stamp collector, orchid grower and gardener, teacher and physician (Women's College Hospital), John's compassion and empathy were evident in everything he did.

His care and knowledge benefitted countless patients and their families. John's quiet kindness and generosity touched everyone who knew him and continues to inspire us all.

The family is grateful for the care John received from the staff and caregivers at Christie Gardens, the Temmy Latner Centre and Kensington Hospice.

A service of thanksgiving will take place at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 5, 2021 and can be viewed via Bloor Street United Church zoomchurch: https://bloorstreetunited.org/worship/worship-with-us/ .

In lieu of flowers, a contribution to the charity of your choice would be gratefully appreciated.
