SCARPELLI, Gilda - It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Gilda Scarpelli. She passed away peacefully on July 31, 2021 at the Villa Colombo Long Term Care home where she received very special care in her final days.
She was born on November 1, 1932 in Rovito, Cosenza, Italy to her parents Maria and Rocco Cento. She is survived by her sisters Gianna (Vicenzino - deceased) Concetta (Tony), Rosetta (Eugenio), predeceased by brothers Giuseppe, Francesco, and sisters Ida (Audino), Giustina (Joe).
Gilda set sail for Canada by herself at the age of 25. Shortly after arriving in Toronto she married Franco her beloved husband of sixty one years. Gilda was a loving caring & compassionate mother to her children Joe (Sandra), Mary (Gino) DiMeo and Susy (Deron - predeceased) Mitchell.
Gilda was also a loving grandmother to her six grand children Joseph, John Paul, Nicholas (Amanda), Daniel (Samantha), Dylan and Sydney, as well as a great grandmother to Mia and Olivia. Gilda will be greatly missed by her dearest family & friends, we are comforted knowing she is now resting peacefully in heaven.
