Barnes BarbaraBARNES, Barbara May (nee DOWLING)   - December 27, 1928 – August 4, 2021

Passed away peacefully at Extendicare in Port Hope on Monday, August 4, 2021.

She was predeceased by her husband, Don and oldest daughter, Louise.

She is survived by her nine sons Wayne, Sam, John, Gord, Matt, Mike, Chris, Tim and Ben and by two daughters, Debbie and Suzi, brother, David and sister, Louise.

Mom was born in Agincourt, but spent most of her childhood growing up in Scarborough.

She often reminisced about enjoying the beautiful gardens her parents planted.

She met the love of her life Don, whom she married in 1947.

After their first 17 years of marriage she had 12 children, so Don, known as the "Scarborough Egg Man" placed a birth notice in the Toronto Star announcing "we sell them by the dozen and so we have them by the dozen".

They were so proud! Mom was the best stay at home mom you could hope for. She cooked and cleaned all day, but still found the time to teach us all to love nature and to look after each other. S

he enjoyed playing the piano and many crafts. Mom and Dad enjoyed drives in the countryside and so in 1988, as empty-nesters, they moved to Rice Lake and then in 2006 to Cobourg.

Mom enjoyed her family and many, many grandchildren.

She always greeted you with a smile, and lent a patient and sympathetic ear.

Mom, you will be missed by so many, but never forgotten.
