Ricchio DomRICCHIO, Dominic 'Dom' - (1958 - 2021) - It is with sadness that we announce that on August 3, 2021 our dear Dominic Ricchio peacefully passed away at the Dorothy Ley Hospice with his wife by his side.

Dom fought a long battle with Stage 4 Glioblastoma Brain Cancer. He fought with steadfastness and determination and beat the average life expectancy of the disease by over almost 2 years, gracing his family and friends with his presence for much longer than expected.

Dom is survived by his loving wife, Valerie, of 12 years, his two children Sophie and Lucas who he adored, his brother Vince (Barbara), niece Chelsea, nephew Michael, Mother-in-law (Rita), Father-in-law (Jean-Louis) and brother-in-law (Eric).

He was predeceased by his loving mother (Maria) and Father (Anthony).

Dominic was a loving friend, cousin and nephew and touched many lives with his patience, kindness and graciousness. His loss will be deeply felt.

A very heartfelt thank you to Dr. Sunit Das of St. Michael’s Hospital Neurosurgery, the Oncology team at Sunnybrook hospital led by Dr. Perry, and especially to the loving team of Dr.’s, nurses and volunteers at the Dorothy Ley Hospice.

A funeral mass will be held on Monday August 9th at 11:00am at St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Mimico, (277 Royal York Road). Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the capacity of the church facilities are limited. Guests wishing to attend are asked to register on the website of Ridley funeral home.

As per Dom’s wishes, there will be no visitation in advance, nor will there be a burial service. Dom’s wish is to be cremated and his remains to be kept at home near his family.

Flowers are greatfully declined, in memory of our beloved Dominic we ask that donations be considered to the Dorothy Ley Hospice, a kind and compassionate organization that rely on generous donations to help provide continued support to families in need - like they did ours.
