LUCAS, Stephanie (nee KALLES)   - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Stephanie Lucas (nee Kalles), on August 7, 2021, at the age of 95.

Predeceased by her husband Vasil Georgievski (deceased 1947) and by her husband Tom Lucas (deceased 2011).

Loving mother of George (Mary) and Helen (Mike); cherished Baba to Bill (Amy), Tom (Christine), Jaclyn, Paul and great-grandmother to Julia, George, Stephen, Sarah and Samantha.

Sister of Vance, predeceased by brother Jim and sisters Victoria and Theodora.

Predeceased by her parents Alex and Dafina Kalles. Stephanie was born in the Macedonian village of Rudari, Prespa Ezera region.

Widowed during the Greek Civil War, Stephanie, with her young son, mother and in-laws, spent the next six years in Zgorzelec, Poland. Her father, who immigrated to Canada in 1929, brought his wife Dafina, his daughter Stephanie and grandson George to Canada in 1955.

Stephanie worked hard in factories, packing biscuits, manufacturing golf clubs, waiting in banquet halls and finally she ran a restaurant business with her husband Tom, brother Jim and sister-in-law Donna from 1967 to 1985, when she retired.

Her greatest joy was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She enjoyed working in her large garden, crocheting blankets and slippers for her family and Macedonian baking, including zelnik and vielnik. She will be sorely missed by her family and friends.

Following COVID-19 restrictions, there will be a private chapel service, followed by a public graveside service on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at 2:45 p.m. in Section 3 at Elgin Mills Cemetery, 1591 Elgin Mills Rd. E., Richmond Hill.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Diabetes Canada.
