CHRISTOPOULOS, John - Passed away peacefully, of natural causes, on August 11, 2021, at the age of 92.
John, loyal husband of Roula (pre-deceased), father of Nick (Maria), and loving grandfather of Natasha and Joanna.
John was born in Sparta, Greece in 1929, and was very proud of his heritage. John met his beloved wife, Roula, while he was stationed in Northern Greece during his military service.
It was love at first sight and after their marriage in 1954, they decided to emigrate to Canada to join family, for a better life.
John was an honest, humble and hardworking family man who always stressed the importance of a good education, doing the right thing, and leading a balanced life. One of his favourite sayings was “pan metron ariston”, ancient Greek for “everything in moderation”.
He had a good sense of humour, for example, telling jokes to his nieces and granddaughters. John really enjoyed family gatherings, especially when they included a BBQ meal and spirited discussions about politics and world affairs.
He will be terribly missed by his friends and family in Canada, Greece, and the United States.
A funeral service will take place at 10:00 a.m. (visitation at 9:30 a.m.), on Monday, Aug. 16th, at St. John’s Greek Orthodox Church, 1385 Warden Ave. A burial will follow.
