Curcic Ante AntukicĆURČIĆ, Ante 'Antukić' - (July 18, 1935 - August 29, 2021) - It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our father, Ante “Antukić” Ćurčić. He died peacefully at home surrounded by his family.

He leaves behind his children, Mira Di Cecco (Robert), Marija “Mary” Ćurčić (Peter Hume) and Krunoslav “Tony” Ćurčić (Andrea), grandchildren, Natasha (Greg), Anthony (Tasha), Thomas, Drina, Andrew (Nicole), Nicholas, Audrey and Mila, as well as his great-grandchildren, Olive, Elliot and Mackenzie.

He is survived by his partner of 37 years, Margaret Szeltner and her son Les Szeltner.

Ante also leaves behind an abundance of family in Croatia & Herceg-Bosna, in particular his many nephews and nieces in Tomislavgrad, as well as his sister, Kata Ćerdić.

Having lost his father at a young age, Ante took on the role of breadwinner and took care of his family and friends whenever he could. Though he loved his birthplace of Gornji Brišnik more than any other place on Earth, he fled communism through Italy and Germany, and eventually made his way to Toronto. Ante was happily active on many fronts in the Croatian community, his favourite being the Toronto Croatia soccer club where he served as Treasurer, Secretary and President for several years.

Sunday mornings you could find Ante in church (at least 20 minutes before start time) seventh row, right side, at Kraljica Mira in Norval. He couldn’t carry a tune if his life depended on it, but enjoyed singing along with the choir, very loudly, always at least a beat or two ahead.

Dad loved his family, friends, saltwater beaches, reading, a good game of chess and good food and drinks. He leaves us with many great memories and life lessons. He will be deeply missed. Rest In Peace Dad.

Due to the ongoing global pandemic and the provincial restrictions, the visitation and mass of Christian burial will be by reservation only. Arrangements may be made through Scott funeral home, Brampton chapel. Face masks/coverings and physical distancing measures are still in effect.
