McShane DeanMcSHANE, Dean  - Passed away peacefully in Ottawa on Sunday, August 29, 2021 at the age of 93.

Dean was the common-law husband and best friend to Lise Portelance and was predeceased by his wives Carol Jane Frost and Mary Read.

Loving and devoted father of Steven McShane (Donna), Carol Ann Simkins (Fred) and predeceased by Deborah (Debbie) Louise Healey.

Beloved grandfather of Connor (Aleeya), Tegan (Matt), Garrett, Meredith, Tawnya, Cortney (Garett), Bryton, Madison. Devoted great-grandfather to Griffen, Eli, Heidi, Acen, Mackenzie, Scotlynn, Savannah, Eliana, Damon and Easton.

Loving brother to Paul McShane (Wilma), Phyllis Waite and predeceased by Keith, Donald and Carl McShane. Dean was predeceased by his father William McShane and mother Mabel (Lattimore) McShane.

Dean graduated from the University of Toronto with honours in 1951 and later became the president of McShane and Shanks Ltd. in Smiths Falls.

He was a member of the Smiths Falls and Lanark County Boards of Education and was an MPP nominee for Lanark County for the PC Party.

Dean was also an extensive participant in Smiths Falls sports – including baseball, softball, and more.

Family and friends may pay their respects on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at the Blair & Son Funeral Home, Smiths Falls, from 10:00 a.m.- 12:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the Chapel at 12 noon. Interment will follow.

Donations in memory of Dean to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
