Dechausay ClementDECHAUSAY, Clement J. - Affectionately known as “Clem” to his friends, passed away Monday, August 30, 2021 at the age of 77.

He died after battling cancer in the ICU at Centenary Hospital – a place where he had worked for 34 years before he retired.

He was born in Dominica on November 24,, 1943, to Gabriel and Veronique.

As a child, he loved cricket and soccer. He worked in healthcare before emigrating to Canada.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Lucy, as well as his three children and their spouses: Marlon and Tina Dechausay, Nadine Dechausay-Williamsand Ryan Williams, Lucius Dechausay and Terra Dafoe.

He loved to spend time with his 6 grandchildren: Marlon Jr, Braylon, Grayson, Connor, Noa and Mya.

Clement was a devoted husband and father, a lover of spicy food, calypso music, and rum.

He loved a long road trip and took his family on cross-country adventures to British Columbia and Prince Edward Island. He will be fondly remembered by his wide circle of friends.

He was a member of St. Barnabas Roman Catholic Church, and served in the Knights of Columbus at St. Bede’s.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Barnabas Roman Catholic Church (10 Washburn Way, Scarborough) on Monday September 6, 2021 at 10:45 A.M. with visitation to commence at 10:00 A.M. Cremation to follow.
