Chin LucyCHIN, Lucy Una (Hue) - Affectionately known as Moms, was born on November 24,1918 in Crooked River, Clarendon, Jamaica and passed away on Friday, September 3, 2021.

Her father was James Hue and mother Lauriebelle Anderson.

She was the eldest of six, survived by her sister, Vete; predeceased by her sister Ceta and brothers Linny and Bibby.

She moved to Rock River with her parents and siblings as a young teenager and went to school there.

She was very talented and became an exceptional seamstress, sewing without a pattern.

She met Cyril Chin (deceased) who had emigrated from China. They married on December 25, 1936. They were married for 59 years and had seven children two of whom are deceased (Babs and Lance).

They lived in Rock River, Clarendon where they opened a wholesale and retail shop that included groceries, fabric and a bakery. Moms and Pops were very generous and would often give free groceries to people who could not afford it. Every year they would cook a feast and welcomed anyone to celebrate Chinese New Year with them. Being one of the few people who had a radio back in the day, the shop was often the centre of gatherings when there was an important announcement.

She always taught us to be kind to others and respect everyone. Trust in God, always try your best, never give up. God doesn’t give you any more than you can bear.

During her illness, she never lost her sense of humour. In the hospital, she said the soup tasted like gully water!

Moms will be lovingly remembered by her five children: Gem, Blossom, Cherry, Myrna (Jerry) and Angela; grandchildren Grayson (Chen), Duane (Heather), Conrad, Avril, Debbie (Dirk), Natalie (Ryan), Peta-Gaye; great-grandchildren Alessandra, Lukas, Eric, Carsten, Amari, Kevin, Caitlyn, Annika, Meredith, Spencer, and many other family members and friends.

Visitation and the service will be hekd at Chapel Ridge Funeral Home, Markham on Thursday, September 9th, 2021.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations to the Markham Stouffville Hosptial.
