Woodcock ShirleyWOODCOCK, Shirley (Ledden) - Age 90, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 3, 2021 at her home in Scarborough.

She was born in Montreal on February 4, 1931, to Earle and Lily (Chappell) Ledden.

She worked as a secretary at Williams and Knowles Steel in Montreal, her husband Edgar (Steve) Woodcock (1924-1981) worked for the same company in Toronto.

They met when the company was going through a bankruptcy and Steve, along with a partner, bought the Toronto division to form their own company, Glaywood Steel.

They married in Montreal shortly after meeting and worked together at Glaywood. She became a mother to her step-daughter Bonnie (Woodcock) Jenkins who was 13 at the time. Shirley and Steve spent much of their extra time on a hobby farm they owned in Colborne.

Shirley enjoyed spending her time reading countless novels, watching curling, and in her younger years painting folk art, and taking care of her cats and horse. Shirley was a proud member of the Eastern Star and contributed many years as their treasurer.

She was survived by her daughter, Bonnie (Rod Craik) Jenkins; cousin, Helen Bees; grandchildren Kristina (Chad) Ali, Andrew (Stephanie) Jenkins; and great-grandchildren, Kayson and Eason Ali.

Family and friends are invited to a graveside service at Pine Hills Cemetery on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at 2 p.m. If you wish to attend, please wear a mask and social distance. Immediately following the service, you are welcome to attend a celebration of Shirley’s life at Bonnie’s house. Light snacks and beverages will be served. We kindly ask that guests who are not fully vaccinated not attend the indoor function as some guests are elderly or immune-compromised.

In lieu of flowers we ask that you make a donation to your favourite charity in her name.
