Husakiwsky JohnHUSAKIWSKY, John - With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved father, John, Teofil Husakiwskyj, on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at the age of 94.

Devoted husband of Julia for 60 years.

Proud father of George, Lydia and Larissa and father in law to Aimee, Kazimir and Philip.

Adored Dido of Michael, Christine, Emma, Luke and Sophia.

Our father was born in 1927 in Mostyska, Lviv, Ukraine, to Julia Dorosz and Teofil Husakiwskyj, one of eight children and the only son.

He was loved dearly by his sisters Anna, Stefania, Maria, Alexandra, Evhenia, Vira and Liida.

He immigrated to Toronto, Canada, in 1949, with Sisters Anna, Alexandra and Evhenia and their families.  He was a devoted uncle to all of his nephews and nieces in Canada and abroad.

In 1961, Tato married our beautiful mother, and they embarked on a life together built on their love for their children and devotion to one another.

He retired from the University of Toronto in 1993 after 25 years of service working as a library technician.

Tato was a proud Ukrainian. He was a member of the Ukrainian Men’s Choir, Burlaka, and a committee member of the Ukrainian Language and Culture School, where he served as treasurer.  He loved listening to Ukrainian news and keeping abreast of events and happenings in Ukraine.

Our father’s greatest gift to us was his pure love. He adored his children and grandchildren, and his capacity to love unconditionally has empowered us to live our best lives with confidence. He has left an indelible mark on our hearts, and we will feel his presence with us always.

Visitation will be held at Cardinal Funeral Home, Toronto on September 10, 2021. The service will take place at St. Demetrius Ukrainian Catholic Church, Toronto on September 11, 2021 at 11:00 AM.
