Pollock SydPOLLOCK, Sydney Wallace - Peacefully, after a brief illness, at the Elizabeth Bruyère Hospital in Ottawa, Ontario on Monday, September 27, 2021.

Born in Glasgow, Scotland, to the late Robert and Agnes (Wallace) Pollock, Sydney will be reunited with his late wife Dorothy (Munson).

He was predeceased by his siblings Robert (Lou), Ronald (Madge), Annie (John), Margaret (John) and Cissy (Robert).

He was predeceased by brothers- and sisters-in-law William, Ted (Ruth), Doug (Nellie), Ronald, Betty (Jack), Margorie, Shirley, June (Bud).

He leaves behind to mourn, his son Brett (Johanne) and daughter Carol.

He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren, Kyle (Chris), Jeanne, Robert (Vanessa), Alex (Amanda), Anne-Marie (Pierre-Luc).

He will be lovingly remembered by great-grandchildren Aaron and Benjamin, by many nieces and nephews, and by sister-in-law Lorraine Munson.

He will be remembered by many friends he has made over his lifetime, but a special mention to Elisabeth Richter, who provided support and companionship for many years.

Sydney grew up during WWII in Glasgow, and that instilled a strong sense of duty and independence into him. In the early ’50s, he served in the RAF as a member of the 208 Squadron stationed at RAF base Fayid, Egypt. He served as an armament mechanic on Gloucester Meteor Jets as well as Spitfires, a plane he was captivated with for his entire life.

Sydney emigrated to Canada in 1958, where he met his love, Dorothy Munson. Dorothy and Sydney were married in 1961 and later had two children, Brett and Carol.

He was loved by all of us, and we will miss him terribly. The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at the Civic and Elizabeth Bruyère hospitals for their compassionate care.

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held in his honour on Saturday, October 23 at 2:30 P.M., at G.H. Hogle Funeral Home, Toronto.
