Shaw ThomasSHAW, Thomas Mitchell - Nothing is so strong as gentleness; nothing is as gentle as real strength.” —Francis De Sale

Today, the sun shines a little dimmer as we mourn the loss of a bright light in our lives. Thomas Mitchell Shaw passed away peacefully on October 5th, 2021, surrounded by his family at the age of 84.

Thomas was a loving and devoted husband, and loved every moment of being a father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He embodied the golden rule; ‘treat others the way you would like to be treated’. He will be remembered fondly as a patient, kind and resilient soul who role modeled for his family that true strength comes from character, will and heart.

His family will cherish memories of a long and happy life together filled with weekends spent at the family trailer in Fenelon Falls, day trips to Ontario Science Centre or Cullen Gardens, and playing pretend for whole afternoons together. Not only did he attend every dance competition, school play and hockey game, but he arrived with his video camera in tow to tape it, too. Most of all, we will miss his quiet way of always being there for his family unconditionally when called.

Thomas will be missed by three generations of family who loved him dearly: his wife of 61 years, Mary Ann Shaw (nee. McDonald); daughters, Mary and Frances Ann, grandson Marty and wife Natalie, granddaughter Erin and fiancé Russell, and granddaughter Kaitlyn. He had the joy of holding his two great-grandchildren, Avery and Benjamin.

We are comforted in knowing that he will be rejoined in heaven with his parents, Thomas Shaw Sr., mother, Catherine Johnson (nee. Wilkie), dear stepfather, Art Johnson and brothers, John and Peter.

Arrangements are entrusted with Ogden funeral home.
