FELKER, Donald Stewart - It is with great sadness that we announce that Don passed away on September 28, 2021, just shy of his 95th birthday, in Brockville Ontario.
Don was predeceased by his wife of over 60 years Marion Felker.
Don is survived by his children Andrew (Ana) and Matthew (Trish), his three grandchildren Christina, Nicholas and Russell, and by his partner in life over the past seven years Patricia Hunt.
Don had a love of travel (especially the planning stage), fishing for trout on Lake Lauzon, meeting friends for coffee and reading a good book.
Don attended Lisgar Collegiate in Ottawa followed by an undergraduate degree from the University of Ottawa and a Master's degree from the University of Toronto before earning a PhD in education from the University of Pennsylvania.
Don became a beloved instructor at OISE (Ontario institute for Studies in Education) and finally, in early retirement, he was a math tutor, helping many students with a subject he loved and excelled at.
Don was never afraid to make the most of life and he never backed down from a challenge.
Being tough but fair made him who he was. "My bark is worse than my bite" he'd joke. He was right.
It was his sharp wit and dry sense of humour that drew people to him right to the very end. He will be missed.
