Bates JerryBATES, Gerald Joseph 'Jerry' - 62, of Toronto Ontario went to be with the lord on October 5, 2021 after a long illness.

Gerald was the eldest child of Joseph Bates and Ethel MacDonald Bates born on August 30,1959 in Glacé Bay Nova Scotia.

Gerald is survived by his brothers Robert Bates and John Bates of Lowell, Ma and a sister Bonnie John of New Bedford, Ma.

His children sons Gerald Bates Jr and his wife Rosa of Worcester, Ma, Daniel Bates and his wife Tiffany of Charlton, Ma and a daughter Angela O’Bryant and her husband Timothy of Leicester, Ma.

And their mother Susan Bates of Cherry Valley, Ma. Nine beautiful grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and friends.

Gerald is predeceased by his parents Joseph Bates and Ethel Galan, a brother James Bates and sisters Wanda Tilton and Deborah Bates.

Gerald will be remembered for his big loving heart and the kindness he showed all he knew.
He was very funny his personality shined wherever he went he made friends he cherished and treated like family.

Gerald is being cared for by Aftercare funeral home in Toronto, Ontario.

There will be no services, following his wishes burial will be private at a later date in the United States.

The family of Gerald Bates would like to thank everyone in the Toronto area who helped and cared for him throughout his illness. And a special thank you to the Aftercare funeral home for showing such sincere kindness and being so helpful with his final request, reuniting him with his beloved family.
