Kukovica AndrewKUKOVICA, Andrew - (December 5, 1930 - October 23, 2021) - It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Andrew Kukovica at home surrounded by his family.

Beloved husband of Teja Kukovica (nee Puc) for 59 years. Loving father to Yana (Mark), Thomas (Jill), Peter (Alexandra), grandchildren Emily, Sam, Madelaine and Sophie. Also survived by his sister Helen.

He was born in Lubljana, Slovenia. At the age of 18, after World War II, Andrew embarked on his own to start a new life in Bariloche, Argentina. While there he became an avid mountain climber, and represented Argentina in competitive cross-country skiing and running.

After 7 years, he made his way north ending up in Canada where he reunited with his brother Ivan and sisters Helen and Yerca. It was there that he met his wife Teja and started his family. He was a loyal employee at Mr. Christie’s for 36 years and an active participant in the Slovenian church choir for over 50 years.

He was devoted to his wife, children and grandchildren and continued to be active in his life passions including skiing into his eighties, gardening and other outdoor activities.

In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Joseph’s Health Centre in Toronto would be appreciated.

Arrangements are entrusted with Ridley funeral home.  Funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal, 739 Browns Line, Toronto, on Thursday, October 28 at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will be held in the church one hour before the start of the funeral mass.
