Greene JessieGREENE, Jessie Margaret - Peacefully passed away November 1, 2021 at the age of 90.

Predeceased by her husband George and son Gary, her parents Archibald MacLellan and Mary Margaret Gillis, her sisters Mary Ann Gillis and Catherine Isabel.

Beloved mother of Gloria Doucet, Darlene (Peter) DiFonzo, Catherine McKay, Robert (Carmen) Greene and Shelley (Roy) Shah.

Cherished by her grandchildren, Melanie, Trevor, Kelley, Ryan, Jessica, Ashley, Michelle, Jesse, Michael, Danielle and Nicholas and her Great Grandchildren, Kianna, Khalia, Jakson, Rhys, Macy, Kennedy, Cabot and Barrett. Jessie will also be sadly missed by her companion dog Myla.

She will be fondly remembered by her brothers and sisters in law, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends, especially her Cousin Vincent and his wife Mary with whom she had a special bond.

Jessie was proudly born of Scottish Heritage in South West Margaree, Nova Scotia, on September 7, 1931. She left Nova Scotia for Toronto, seeking employment in 1957 with her husband and two young children. Although Toronto was her home, her heart was always in Nova Scotia. She always spent her summer vacations there, in the company of her family and friends, occasionally conversing in her native Gaelic, enjoying freshly caught fish and ending the nights with a good card game.

She was a devout Catholic and an active member of the Catholic Women's League for many years. She developed new friendships, volunteered her time assisting with Church functions and bake sales, after which she ensured every penny was counted, and every dollar was accounted for.

She loved a good challenge and eagerly subscribed to the daily newspaper, where lately she would ignore its contents to skim through for the word or Sudoku puzzles, which she would complete and then discard the paper to the recycling bin.

She was an avid Hockey fan and a supporter of the Montreal Canadiens. She never missed a televised game, even when the Toronto Maple Leafs were playing.

She spent most of her time watching the local and Nova Scotia news, in the company of her pet companion Myla, who sadly whimpered as Jessie left her residence of 55 years for her final journey.

Although she has passed, she has left us with many fond memories that will be cherished.

Soraidh slàn (Farewell)

In lieu of flowers, a donation to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.

Arrangements are entrusted with Jerrett Funeral Home, St. Clair chapel.
