TERRY, Edna Mary (nee HANDY)    -  Edna died peacefully, in her sleep, at the Northumberland Hills Hospital in Cobourg, on Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at age 96.

She is survived by her sons, Christopher (Victoria) and Charles (Maryann), grandchildren, Charles, Simon and Catharine, great-grandchildren, James, Piper, Audrey and Ingrid, nephews and nieces in the UK and Canada.

Predeceased by her husband, Fred, and her parents.

Born in Ilmington, Warwickshire in 1924, served as a WAAF Wireless Operator in the Royal Air Force 1942 to 1946.

Awarded the Bletchley Medal for her work in Signals Intelligence. Edna and Fred were married in October 1946 and immigrated to Canada in 1957.

Worked for many years as an A/V Technician at King City Secondary School. Until age precluded extensive travel, she enjoyed her vacation homes in Florida and on PEI.

A person of great integrity, she cared deeply for her family and provided non-stop supplies of delicious baking and exquisite knitted things for all of them.

She was also a charter member of the Georgian Bay British Car Club with Fred and was well known as his enthusiastic co-pilot in their vintage MGB.

In her final years, she was superbly cared for by the staffs of the Northumberland Hills Hospital, Durham Regional Cancer Centre, St. Elizabeth Society, Victorian Order of Nurses, Central East LHIN, the Northumberland Family Health Team, and the Empire Crossing Retirement Community in Port Hope.

A celebration of her life will occur in the spring of 2022 in Collingwood.

If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation.
