GILLIES, Evelyn Florence   -  Beloved wife of Graham.

Loved mother of Ruth and her husband Roy Pietila and Neil. Cherished nana of Tabitha, Grace and Aidan.

Daughter of the late Cecil and Margaret McCann. Sister of Clarence McCann (Jessie).

Evelyn loved life with her Hereford cattle and her family.

She grew up in Omagh on the family beef farm with her father Cecil and brother Clarence.

Evelyn graduated from the MacDonald Institute, Ontario Agriculture College and married Graham Gillies in 1959.

She purchased her first cow, which was a Holstein! They then began to buy Hereford cattle and established G & E Herefords in 1963. They grew their herd to 48 cows with years of breeding to nationally known sires and good mother cows.

Evelyn was one of the first and very few females to judge beef classes at many local fairs. She showed champions and judged at local fairs, zone events, the Canadian National Exhibition and the Royal Winter Agricultural Fair.

Evelyn was the president of the Ontario Polled Hereford Club, member of the Ontario Hereford Association.

Evelyn's other big joys in life were her children and grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to visit at the McKersie-Kocher Funeral Home, Milton, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Sunday. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Monday, November 15, 2021 at 2 p.m. Due to Covid 19 restrictions in Halton, attendance is limited. Please book your visitation and funeral time slot to ensure your attendance.

As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations in memory of Evelyn to Make a Wish Foundation of Canada would be appreciated by the family.
