Ince JoanINCE, (Beverley) Joan (nee SMITH)   - October 23, 1929 – November 13, 2021

It is with great sadness that the family announce the peaceful passing of Joan after a long and happy life well-lived.

Loving and devoted wife to Grant Ince (deceased April 2020) for 69 years.

Most cherished and loved Mom and Nana to Steve (Sophie) and family Stefanie (Mark H.), Mark, Matt (Lindsay) and Tori; Jan (Wayne) and family Greg and Pete; Doug (deceased August 2020) and Laurel and family Jordan (Chelsea), Lindsay (Carter), and Garett (Caitlin); Jeff and Scott (Alex) and family Michael (Erin) and Sarah.

And a very special Great-Nana to Allie, Joshua, Charlie, Hudson, Tierney and Gavin Douglas.

The most recent passing of her life partner Grant, and much-loved son Doug of cancer, was a very difficult time for Joan but she faced the heartbreak and challenge with her usual strength and resolve.

Mom was born and raised in Toronto and attended North Toronto Collegiate where she met Dad and many life-long friends.

Her summers at Lake Simcoe as a child and later in Muskoka with her large family cemented her love of cottaging. Mom was always happiest with family and friends in her midst, and the more the better.

As well, from a young age, Mom always had a dog or two that completed her family. Our Mom was a true matriarch. Family meant everything to her and she was fiercely proud of her extremely large and close family. Mom led a full and very busy life raising five children and having teenagers in the 60s, 70s and 80s.

At every opportunity Mom was a great support to both her children and grandchildren, always setting an example with much love that would be hard to emulate.

As per Mom's wishes, cremation has taken place. Visiting will be held on Sunday, November 21, 2021 at the Kane-Jerrett North York Funeral Home (Yonge St., south of Steeles), from 2:00 until 5:00 p.m. At this time we will celebrate the lives of Joan and Grant and their beloved son Doug.

If desired, in memoriam donations may be made to the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation. Proof of full vaccination, along with government issued ID, are mandatory to attend indoor funeral services for those age 12 and older. Masks are required.
