RAPOSO, Joana - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our loving sister Joana on November 30, 2021 after a year-long battle with cancer.
She is survived by her siblings Dolores, John (Luisa), Fatima, and Tony, and her cherished nieces Amy (Derek), Sarah, and Lynn.
She is now rejoicing with the choir of angels in heaven with her parents Joao and Maria Espirito Santo. She will be missed by many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
To those who knew Joana, she was an extraordinarily kind and sentimental person. A lover of picture-taking, sight-seeing, and family gatherings. Joana was the one to capture every family milestone with her camera and we are grateful for the years of memories we have to revisit because of her filming.
She loved road trips to see new towns, churches, or her favourite Christmas shops where she would collect village pieces and figurines. Every Christmas, she would add her new collectables to her beautiful, extensive nativity scene which she took many months to create for her family to enjoy.
At home, she was the perfect big sister, a second mother to her siblings. She loved her family and was always available to help out with anything anyone needed. She spent summer days tending to the flower and vegetable gardens in her backyard and kept her passion alive with a thriving greenhouse in the winter.
She also filled her spare time collecting movies, especially Disney ones, which she loved to share with the children at St. Chad’s day care centre in Toronto where she spent a long career as an Early Childhood Educator.
We will miss you dearly Joana; you were taken far too soon. You will be present in our minds and hearts forever. God bless you and may you rest in peace, dear sister.
Arrangements are entrusted with Scott funeral home, Mississauga chapel.
As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
