MANN, Peter - October 9, 1940 - December 7, 2021
It is with heavy hearts that we announce on December 7, 2021, Peter passed away peacefully in his home.
Son of the late David and Elizabeth Mann, younger brother to George and brother-in-law to Carla.
Loving uncle to Michael Mann, Tracy and Daniel Brody.
Iconic great-uncle to Sam and Sierra, Jordan and Rewa, Rebecca, Dovid and Sarah Brody; Alexandra and Andrew Steward. Great-great-uncle to Dina and Harrison Steward.
With music in his heart and the world his stage, Peter along with Victor Garber, Laurie Hood and Lee Harris formed a group called The Sugar Shoppe (1967). The group performed on the Ed Sullivan show and Johnny Carson.
Once the group disbanded, Peter co-produced and arranged vocals on the Canadian Rock Theatre, Jesus Christ Superstar Zone (1972).
With his lengthy career at the CBC, he created some of Canada's most memorable musical moments and arranged, produced, composed and engineered with the likes of Isaac Hayes, Donovan, The Nylons, Raffi, Fred Penner, Rita Mac Neil, Anne Murray, K.D. Lang and Elton John among others.
Television specials included The 29th Annual Juno Awards, Back to the Bean Stock, The Trial of Red Riding Hood, and Jack: A Flash Fantasy.
Peter was nominated for a Juno Award for producer of the year with The Nylons and won three Gemini Awards just to name a few.
Throughout his career Peter Mann has had a tremendous impact on those he worked with, talked to and the Canadian music industry.
