JONES, Doug  -  Doug Jones passed away on December 16, 2021 at the age of 63.

He was a committed long-term care worker, a dedicated advocate against anti-Black racism, an invaluable volunteer in many progressive campaigns, a tireless NDP activist and a beloved brother of the labour movement.

He was a proud Sergeant at Arms for the Toronto and York Region Labour Council and a longtime loyal member of CUPE Local 79. Health and Safety issues were always a priority for him.

He never missed an April 28 National Day of Mourning for workers injured or killed on the job and he gave hundreds of union members workplace health and safety training.

Whether it was cooking for the Mary Spratt Breakfast at Steelworkers Hall for International Women's Day, holding down a picket line or dressing up as Santa for his community in Jane Finch, Doug always showed up with a big heart for others.

His memorial will be held online on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at 2 p.m.  For details, please email friendsofdougjones @gmail.com.
