McLachlan RichardMcLACHLAN, Richard 'Dick'  -

July 31, 1931 December 31, 2023

It is with sadness we announce the passing of Richard 'Dick' McLachlan, a charismatic husband, father and grandfather.

Richard passed away, at age 92, on New Year's Eve, December 31, 2023, of heart failure at the Royal Victoria Hospital (The Glen) in Montreal. Born in Toronto, Ontario, Richard lived a rewarding and successful life.

He attended high school in Toronto and Sterling, Ontario, and graduated from the University of Toronto in Engineering and Business. His early career began at Orenda Engines (Avro Arrow).

Richard then relocated to Montreal to complete a very successful 31-year career with Pratt & Whitney Canada as Vice President of Marketing and throughout the world.

As a passionate sportsman, Richard loved to play tennis, and he sailed and skied in many countries. Playing tennis at the Hillside, sailing on Lake Champlain, skiing and biking from his chalet on Lac Brulé and going on canoe trips with Joan, Bob and Margaret were some of his favorite passions. Music was also important to Richard.

In his early years he played clarinet and saxophone in a jazz band, and he always loved playing jazz standards on the piano.

He leaves behind his loving wife, Joan, of 66 years; son, Brad; daughter, Heather; and his grandchildren, Hilary, Thomas Sean and Scott.

His remains were cremated, and at his request, no formal service will be held.

If desired, donations may be made to a Charity of Your Choice. Richard will be fondly remembered and deeply missed.
