Rennick MevilleRENNICK, Melville "Mel" William   -  It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Melville "Mel" William Palmer Rennick, 93 years young, on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre.

Devoted husband of 64 years to Elca.

Beloved father of Roderick William, Kathy, and Tracy (Tabo). Cherished brother of Carl Rennick (Lynda) and uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his parents, William and Lola Rennick; and brother, Glenn Rennick. Mel was born on June 12, 1930 in Orangeville, Ontario. Graduating in 1955 from the Provincial Institute of Mining in Haileybury, Ontario, Mel had exciting adventures during his years assaying, surveying and staking mining claims across North America.

He lived with his family in Timmins, Val-d'Or and Noranda before settling in Toronto.

A man of great wit, Mel was a storyteller extraordinaire, some of them tall, some of them small, always told with a knowing twinkle in his eye. Pappi, you'll be greatly missed by all who knew you.

Many thanks to the medical and caregiving teams at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre that provided support to both Mel and the family.

The family will receive friends at Heritage Funeral Centre, 50 Overlea Blvd., Toronto, 416-423-1000, on Friday, January 26th, from 5-8 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be held in the chapel on Saturday, January 27th, at 1 p.m., during which guests are invited to share a favorite memory or story of Mel.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada or the Sunnybrook Foundation.
