McKENZIE, Pauline (nee HUMPHRIES) B.A., M.A.T.   -

November 30, 1945 - April 12, 2024

After a long struggle with Parkinson's Disease, Pauline passed away peacefully at North York General Hospital surrounded by her family.

Pauline is survived by her husband, Alan; her sons, Michael and Peter (Carly) and her beloved grandchildren, Emma, Julia, Olivia, and Finley. Her brother, Martin Humphries, and many relatives and friends mourn her and will miss her friendship.

Pauline came to Toronto from Dorsetrshire England at age 10 with her parents Sydney and Monica Humphries and her brother Martin and sister Ruth.

Pauline met Alan while working part time at Loblaws.

It was the start of a 60-year love story. Pauline was enthusiastic about education.

She went to night school to earn her degrees and was proud when Michael and Peter earned theirs. Pauline was a first-rate educator.

Over the course of her career, she instructed students in every grade from 3 to 13, adult students finishing their diplomas and university courses and other teachers aspiring to become administrators.

She even taught Alan to spell a little bit better though that was a challenge. Pauline was proud to be Vice Principal and then Principal of Jarvis Collegiate Institute from 1996 until she retired in 2004.

Pauline loved to sing and was a member of the Asbury and West United Church Choir, the Jubilate Singers, and the retired teachers Choristers choir.

She loved family celebrations. Everyone went home full and with leftovers for the next day. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Parkinson Canada, Toronto Foundation for Student Success, or the charity of your choice.

A Celebration of Pauline's life will take place on Saturday, April 27, 2024. Visitation 9:00 a.m. Service 10:00 a.m. with reception to follow. Interment (immediate family).
