Armstrong JaniceARMSTRONG, Janice Catherine (nee AITKENS)   -

May 16, 1944 - May 3, 2024

Janice "Jan" was a beautiful, artistic, thoughtful, generous, and free-spirited soul who lived her life on her own terms.

Born in Windsor, Ontario, she moved with her family to Toronto as a young girl.

She attended Hugh Beaton Public School (Windsor) and Etobicoke Collegiate, and graduated from the Ontario College of Art. Jan had many talents.

She was an accomplished piano player, and had careers ranging from artist and pharmacist assistant to real estate agent and interior designer.

Her independent nature led her to Asia mid-life, where she lived out her later years travelling, teaching English as a second language, and painting.

She made many friends along the way, and eventually retired quietly in the Philippines, where she passed away at Iloilo Doctors Hospital. Jan will be forever missed by her family and friends.

Predeceased by her parents, John and Nora Aitkens; and her brother, George (Dave Brickwood); Jan is survived by her children, Mary (Matt Parent) and Robert (Cindy), grandchildren, Sydney, Braedon, and Nicholas, and her former husband, Brian Armstrong.

Cremation has taken place. In honour of Jan's lifelong love for animals, donations may be directed to Soi Dog Foundation, Ending The Suffering Of Animals, https://www.soidog.org/ in Asia or a similar charity of your choice.
