Predeceased by husband Walter Milne Oakes (1988), parents George and Alice Troup (Rudd) and siblings Irene, Mary, Bill and Mervyn.

Fondly remembered by sister-in-law Jean Oakes of Waterloo, aunt of John (Judy) Oakes of Markham, Milne (Mary Lou) Oakes of Waterloo, Graeme (deceased) (Carol) Oakes of Kitchener, Gail (Lorne) Green of Kitchener, Gary (Marie) Hawkins of Drayton, Mervyn (Filomena) Hawkins of London, David (Teresa) Hawkins of Arthur, Chris (Elizabeth) Hawkins of Listowel, Scott (Christine) Hawkins of Everett, Andrea and George Ryan of Ottawa, as well as great-aunt and great-great-aunt to several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Trull Funeral Home & Cremation Centre (2704 Yonge Street, Toronto, ON, on Thursday, September 8th from 7-9 p.m.

A funeral service will be held in Glenview Presbyterian Church (1 Glenview Avenue, Toronto, ON), on Friday, September 9th at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Greenfield Cemetery, Arthur, ON.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Glenview Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund.

Andrew Augustine DUANE

On Monday, April 25, 2016, 'Gus', surrounded by his family, passed away peacefully in his 92nd year. He was born in Loughrea, County Galway, Ireland in 1924. He flew in World War II with the RAF and immigrated to Canada in 1946. As one of twelve children, he is survived by his sister Eileen Hickey. Devoted husband to Dr. Vera Solowska for 60 years. Loving father of Helen (Marc Carere), Tom (Anne) and Peg (Tom Best). He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Matthew, Emily, Andrew, Dominique, Luke, Jeff, Richard, Melanie, Amy, Colin, Jenna and his great-grandchildren Anna Bella, Sophia, Cosmo and Kiana. He was always a mentor and loving advisor to his children, their peers and his grandchildren. On May 2nd, friends may visit at Mount Pleasant Funeral Centre, 375 Mount Pleasant Rd.
