STEWART, Mary Thérèse (nee BOUCHIER) - November 22, 1931 - October 3, 2016
It is with great sadness that the family announces the death of our beloved mother and grandmother.
She was the centre of our world and the life force of our family.
But she grew weary as her body did not stay as strong and vital as her spirit.
She will be missed so very, very much by her children: Mary Ann (Eric), Brenda, Elaine (Milano), Carol (Mike), Raymond (Jennifer) and Peter, and her grandchildren: Kate, Nicole, Megan, Julianna, Christopher, Ron and Alexia.
She will also be missed by her sister-in-law Kay Stewart, her cousins and her many nieces and nephews. Thérèse left us to join the love of her life, our Dad, Ron. She will also be reunited with her infant son Stephen, her parents and all her brothers.
Thérèse was born in Toronto in 1931 to Edmond Bouchier and Lucy Mae Mixer, their only daughter. She had four brothers, Lawrence, Edmund, Frank and Raymond. She attended St. Dunstan, Precious Blood, and St John elementary schools and Notre Dame High School. Thérèse met the love of her life, Ron Stewart, when she was 16 years old. They were married in 1951 and were together for 63 years until Ron's death in 2013. She missed him so much. Thérèse dedicated her life to raising her six children.
We were nurtured and loved. We are so grateful for everything she gave to us. We learned about strength, courage, determination, creativity, independence, humour, and love. Thérèse loved children, all children. She was an incredible Gramma to her seven grandchildren who will now walk forward carrying on our family line. In her later years, Thérèse learned more about, and embraced, her Métis ancestry.
She honoured and acknowledged those that came before her. She will be missed by all of us who loved her so dearly. We would like to thank Dr. Sandra Marcus for her partnership and compassion in helping Thérèse navigate through the last several years of her journey.
To honour our mother, visitation will be held at Pine Hills Cemetery & Funeral Centre, Scarborough, on Friday, October 21 from 3 - 5 and 7 - 9 p.m. and on Saturday, October 22 from 10 - 11 a.m. with a memorial service at 11 a.m. Interment to follow.
