SCALISE, Giuseppe  - After bravely facing his battle with cancer, Giuseppe (Joe) Scalise passed peacefully at Dorothy Ley Hospice on February 4, 2017 at the age of 82.

He arrived 62 years ago from his hometown of Galli, Catanzaro, Calabria, Italy on his own to build a better life for himself and his future family.

He is leaving behind a legacy that includes his childhood sweetheart of 61 years, Vincenzina (Gallo) Scalise, 5 children Santo Scalise (Sandy), Maria Mancini (Joe), Josie Clauser (Lino), Frank Scalise (Helen) and Sina McCracken (Gary). He will be sadly missed by 9 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 6 great- grandchildren and 5 step-great- grandchildren. He loved his family and friends deeply and was a firm believer in family traditions.

Our sincere appreciation to Dr. Tony Hung and to the wonderful compassionate staff and volunteers at the Dorothy Ley Hospice. Words cannot express our gratitude for the care given to Joe during his time there.

Any charitable donations in Joe's honour can be made to The Dorothy Ley Hospice: www.dlhospice.org

Mr. Scalise is resting at Scott Funeral Home, 420 Dundas Street East, on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday morning, February 7th at 9:30 a.m. in St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church (2340 Hurontario Street, Mississauga). Entombment to follow.
