BARAKAUSKAS, Prane  - Prane passed peacefully on Friday, February 3, 2017, in her sleep at Grove Park Home, Barrie.

She was predeceased by husband Julius.

She is survived by children, son Ramunas (Birute), daughter Vida (the late Al Senkus), and daughter Dana (Gene).

She was predeceased by brothers Augustinas, Juozas and sister Viktorija. 'Mocuite' will be missed by her grandchildren: Vilte (Geoff), Viktorija (Jason), Matas, Andrius, Eli and Malcolm.

Born in Palange, Lithuania on June 6, 1923 she later immigrated to Canada after WWII. After fulfilling a 6 month work contract as a domestic helper in Toronto, Prane went to work as nurses' aid at Toronto Western and then Canada Packers. She met and married her devoted husband Julius in 1950.

While raising her children, Prane enjoyed and excelled in cooking, sewing and gardening. She learned how to weave, producing many fabrics used as part of Lithuanian national costumes. The family wishes to thank the staff of Grove Park Home for their exceptional care and compassion, loyal caregiver Ashley, Dr. McTurk and Dr. Kozak for his many years of health care service.

Friends may call at the Turner & Porter 'Yorke' Chapel, Toronto, on Friday, February 10th from 6 to 9 p.m. Prayers at 8 p.m.  Funeral Mass will be held at Church of the Resurrection, 1 Resurrection Rd., Toronto, on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 10 a.m. immediately followed by a reception. Interment will take place after the reception.
