VAINIO, Helmi Rauha  - Helmi Rauha Vainio, 91 years old, peacefully passed away in Toronto on March 1, 2017.

Predeceased by husband Ahti (2006).

Loving mother of Lasse (wife Irene) of Toronto, Esko (wife Kathy) of Timmins and Paula (late husband Peter) of Toronto.

Cherished grandmother of Andrew (partner Darren), Eric (partner Diana), Jaan and Tomas.

Dear sister of the late Aune Kopra, of Finland. Helmi came to Canada from Finland in 1951 with her young family and worked diligently alongside her husband to forge a better life for their children.

Helmi was an active member of St. Matthew's Finnish Lutheran Church in Sudbury and the Sudbury Finnish War Veteran's Association.

Her love of volunteering, fishing, cross- country skiing, cats and nature, will always be warmly remembered by her family.

Thank you to the staff of Harmony Hills Care Community for treating Helmi with such care and dignity.

Helmi's Celebration of Life takes place at Paul O'Connor Funeral Home, Scarborough, on Sunday, March 12th.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Helmi's name to Toronto Cat Rescue
