Dionne AlanDIONNE, Alan Gilbert - Alan (Al) passed away suddenly at his home with his loving wife of 65 years, Zelda, at his side on Monday, March 6th, 2017 in his 87th year.

Born in Oshawa as the youngest son to his late parents Wilfred and Lorinda.

Dedicated and loving father to Paul (Anne) and Karen. Adored grandfather of Greg (Michelle) and Heather Dionne, and Stephanie, Matthew and Nathan Jordan. Al welcomed his first great grandchild William into the family this past December.

Predeceased by his brothers Jack and Fred.

Al was a longtime GM employee and member of the UAW. In addition, Al worked part time at the Oshawa Civic Auditorium as head doorman and usher from the Civic’s opening night in 1964 until the late 1990’s.

Al had a large number of friends accumulated over the years from his workplaces and several local clubs of which he was an active member. Al will be missed by his boyhood friends who still meet every week for breakfast to swap stories of their past youth and his newer Oshawa Center friends who he shared coffees with on many mornings over the past several years.

The family wishes to extend their thanks and appreciation to the Emergency First Responders for their quick response and valiant attempts to resuscitate our husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

Al will be greatly missed by his family and in his spirit, a visitation will be held at OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME , 847 King Street West (905-721-1234) on Saturday, March 11th from 10:00 a.m. until a Celebration of Life in the Chapel at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to a  CHARITY of your choice would be appreciated.
