Sawatzky JohnSAWATZKY, John  - Died peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on Sunday March 26, 2017.

He was born on August 18,1926 in Winkler Manitoba.

He was the youngest brother to the late Katie Wiens and the late Robert Sawatzky and older brother to Ann Tasker.

After grade 12, John signed on with the Royal Canadian Navy for a 7 year term and served during WW2.

After the war, he was stationed on the HMS Niobe Military ship in England and enrolled in their Electronics Program.

He retired from the Navy in 1952 as a Petty Officer. John married Margaret Mundt on June 20, 1953 in Winnipeg Manitoba and moved to Toronto in 1955. John’s employment years to retirement at the age of 65 were primarily with 2 electronic companies, Garrett Mfg (now Honeywell) and Texas Instruments.

He was involved working with electronic and aerospace companies across North America on redesign from vacuum tube technology to the use of semiconductors.

John and Margaret were active members at Bramalea Baptist Church for many years. They moved to Ajax in 2010 to be near daughter Jane and husband Brian Mensour. John was the proud Grandfather to Cheryl and her Husband Steve and Sean and his Wife Megan. He was thrilled when his great grand-daughter Ella Grace was born two and a half years ago.

John and Margaret attend Ajax Baptist Church and their strong faith was supportive through these last past few months.

John will be remembered for his caring soul and sense of humour and he will be missed by his family and friends.
