      Ontario Junior Hockey League, Whitby Fury Junior A Hockey Club, in conjunction with Mount Lawn Funeral Home & Cemetery, invite the community to sign a guestbook of condolence at Mount Lawn Funeral Home, 21 Garrard Road, Whitby in memory of the players and team personnel who lost their lives in Humboldt, Saskatchewan.

    The book will be available daily from  9 a.m. - 8 p.m. until Monday, April 23rd, at which time the book will be sent to the OJHL offices to be sent to the team in Saskatchewan

HumboldtStrong BannerA book of remembrance and support has been placed in the lobby of the OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME for residents of Oshawa, Whitby and Clarington. This will be sent to the community of Humboldt to show our support and solidarity.

Feel free to add to our memorial in front of the OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME.

Hockey sticks will be donated to support minor hockey in our community.

As well, OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, COURTICE FUNERAL CHAPEL and DIGNITY MEMORIAL will make a donation to support Minor Hockey for every stick collected.

Van Allen SophieVAN ALLEN, Sophie (nee Porayko)  - January 21, 1924 - July 8, 2017

Peacefully at Sunnybrook Hospital, on Saturday, July 8th, 2017, in her 94th year.

Now reunited in heaven with her beloved husband Mack.

Survived by her sister Irene Ross (the late Doug) and brothers Paul and Robert Porayko.

Predeceased by her sister Olga Burnett (the late Leo) and brothers John (Eileen) and Gary Porayko (the late Sandra).

Beloved and loving Aunt to Karen Patrick (Bill), Jeff Ross (Eva), Marty Ross (Candis), Mary Jayne Feeley (Brian), Art Giroux (Ronnie) and David and Cathy Porayko.

She delighted in her many great-nieces and great- nephews and her first great-great nephew!

Sophie was a life-time supporter of St. James Presbyterian Church, a loyal follower of her Toronto Blue Jays and loved her kitty-cats!

The family would like to sincerely thank the staff of Sunnybrook Palliative Care - K1C - for their compassion, kindness and respect of Sophie. You are all truly very special people!

Visitation will be held at OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME , 847 King St West (905-721-1234) on Wednesday, July 12th from 11:00 a.m. until time of Funeral Service in the Chapel at 12:00 noon. Internment at Mount Lawn Cemetery.

Memorial donations would kindly be accepted to St. James Presbyterian Church or the Durham Humane Society.
