      Ontario Junior Hockey League, Whitby Fury Junior A Hockey Club, in conjunction with Mount Lawn Funeral Home & Cemetery, invite the community to sign a guestbook of condolence at Mount Lawn Funeral Home, 21 Garrard Road, Whitby in memory of the players and team personnel who lost their lives in Humboldt, Saskatchewan.

    The book will be available daily from  9 a.m. - 8 p.m. until Monday, April 23rd, at which time the book will be sent to the OJHL offices to be sent to the team in Saskatchewan

HumboldtStrong BannerA book of remembrance and support has been placed in the lobby of the OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME for residents of Oshawa, Whitby and Clarington. This will be sent to the community of Humboldt to show our support and solidarity.

Feel free to add to our memorial in front of the OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME.

Hockey sticks will be donated to support minor hockey in our community.

As well, OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, COURTICE FUNERAL CHAPEL and DIGNITY MEMORIAL will make a donation to support Minor Hockey for every stick collected.

Derks HenricusDERKS, Henricus Joseph (Hank, Henry) - (March 13th, 1929 ~ July 29th, 2017)

Passed away peacefully at Lakeridge Health – Oshawa on Saturday, July 29th, 2017 at the age of 88.

Beloved husband of June Derks for 66 years.

Father of Corny (Darlene) and Ed (Mary).

Opa will be sadly missed by Jonas (Theresa), Tyler (Annesa), Coady, Aidan (Jennie), Adam (Melissa) and Julie (Corey). Predeceased by his loving granddaughter Danielle.

Proud Great Opa to Kaleb, Braedan, Sierra, Colton, Lily, Hunter and Alexandra. Loving brother of Gerda, Kees, Annie, Marie-Jose, Adrienne and the late Marie, Jo, Jan and Ton.

Born in Bemelen, Netherlands, to a family of 10. Henry immigrated to Canada in 1958 and made Whitby his home. A special thanks to the nurses and staff at Lakeridge Health – Oshawa for their wonderful care of Henry.

Visitation will be held at OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West, (905-721-1234) on Wednesday, August 2nd from 7 – 9 p.m. and on Thursday, August 3rd, from 12:00 noon until time of Funeral Service in the Chapel at 1:00 p.m.

In memory of Henry donations to Lakeridge Health Foundation – Supportive Care Unit would be appreciated.
