BIRUM, Edith Lois (CHARTERS) (nee PAGET)  - Of Carversville, PA and Marmora, Ontario died suddenly on August 29, 2017, two days before her 91st birthday.

Beloved wife of the late Herbert Lamont Birum, Jr. She is survived by her children: Robert Charters, Catherine (Charters) Halper (Dr. Jeff Farber), Ken Charters, Dori (Charters) Caroll (Scott) and Barbara (Birum) Lance (George); nineteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and three sisters: Dorothy (Paget) Scruton; Helen (Paget) Chapman and Delia (Witton) Heideman, along with many nieces, nephews, their children and her many friends. Lois filled her life with music, students and adventure.

During childhood, she performed 10-handed with her three sisters (2 pianos) and a brother (organ) at the Conservatory of Music in Toronto (now the Royal Conservatory of Music). After retiring from a sales management career in Mississauga, Ontario, she earned a degree in Music Education from the College of New Jersey. She was a founding Member of American Conservatory of Music, an examiner for both Conservatories and an active member of the Bucks County Association of Piano Teachers and the Piano Teachers Forum in New Jersey. She was a pioneer in the use of computer technology in music education.

A Reception and Memorial Service with guest musicians Allison Simpson and Mark Bernazzoli will be held at the CARVERSVILLE CHURCH UCC, 3736 Aquetong Road, Carversville, PA 18913 USA on Saturday, November 18, 2017, starting with a calling hour at 10 a.m. and service at 11 a.m. Refreshments will follow.
