Alexiou AnastasiosALEXIOU, Anastasios  - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Anastasios "Tom" Alexiou, aged 74, on November 21, 2017.

He was born in Alona, Florina, Greece (Macedonia) in 1943.

Anastasios is survived by his wife Frances, his daughters Christine and Aliki, son Vasil (Bill), son-in-law Pino, and grandchildren Sophia and Matteo.

He is predeceased by his father Vasilios, mother Konstantina, his sister Melpomene Kiatipis, and nephew George Kiatipis.

Anastasios was an energetic, dedicated man with a lively sense of humour. When he was 22 years old he immigrated to France, but soon decided that Canada was the country where he could find the most opportunities…and give the children he was to have a better life. Moving to Toronto, he soon became married to a girl he had known when they were children in the village who had moved to Toronto 10 years before - Theofani "Frances" Alexiou.

They celebrated their Golden Anniversary in 2016. Anastasios was a supportive and loving husband, father, brother and son. He loved spending time with his kids. He drove them to ballet, piano class and social clubs and was always available to come to their aid. He was an avid gardener with a magical green thumb. He was always looking for interesting vegetables and herbs to grow. He enjoyed woodworking and loved to create in his workshop.

He was a philosopher who enjoyed a good discussion and debate. He was a gifted baker who ran his own bakery for 12 years. His meat pies and cream puffs were delicious. He was a loyal friend and relative who was always happy to lend a helping hand.

Anastasios was delighted with his two grandchildren Sophia and Matteo and was always available to babysit and loved to spend time with them.

He will be immensely missed; his bright and loving spirit and warm smile are forever in our hearts.

Arrangements with Jerrett Funeral Homes, 660 Kennedy Road, Toronto, ON .
