Robus WalterROBUS, Walter Robert Hunt  - October 3, 1925 - December 2, 2017

Forever a gentleman but always a character, Wally age 92, passed away holding his daughter’s hand.

Predeceased by dearly cherished wife, Lillian (2015), sons Stephen (1956) and James (1980).

Loved and missed by daughter Carolyn Robus-Smith (Bill Smith), Tanner, Fraser and Emma Smith; daughter Diane Quick (Doug Quick), Alex and Andrew Quick.

Wally graduated from Northern Secondary High School, where he met and fell in love with classmate, Lillian.

In September 1943, at the age of 17, he enlisted with the RCAF, boarding a train at Union Station, enroute to Edmonton, for Basic Training.  Trained as a Bombardier in Regina.

After the war, Wally had a successful, long sales career with IBM, continuing to stay in touch with admired colleagues long after retirement.  He was devoted to Lillian for 66 beautiful years, cherished his family, was a caring brother and concerned friend.  Long-time member of Northlea United Church.

During the fall and winter, the family knew, "don't call Grandpa during a Saturday night NHL game or Sunday afternoon NFL game because he won't answer the phone"!!! But his most favourite spring and summer focus, was the Lake of Bays cottage where he shared so many valued and treasured memories with Lillian, family, cottage neighbours and friends.

We want to thank all Sunnybrook Hospital Veteran's L Wing Staff for providing excellent, compassionate, tender care in every possible way; to Dr. Chang and Dr. Hung, to Rec Therapy (Lois, Kaila, Kathleen) for facilitating numerous outings/special moments for dad, and last but definitely not least to Trish-Music Therapy, for her magic touch, providing beautiful “notes” and peace.

A service will be held on Tuesday, December 5th in NORTHLEA UNITED CHURCH, 125 Brentcliffe Road in Leaside, with visitation at 10:00 a.m., service at 11:00 a.m., followed by a reception in the fellowship room.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to The Royal Canadian Legion, Todmorden-Branch 10; 1083 Pape Avenue, Toronto, Ontario M4K 3W7.
