DEMMER, Marie Louise Renée (nee de VERTEUIL) - Renée, age 94, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 27, 2017 at the Houses of Providence, Toronto.
Renée was born in 1923 in Gran Couva, Trinidad, the daughter of René and Emma de Verteuil.
Renée lived a full life that began in her beloved home of Trinidad where she grew up in Mayaro with her parents, brothers, sister, many cousins and friends.
She went to England to study nursing and then immigrated to Montreal, Canada where she met her husband, Hans.
She lived in communities across Canada and eventually settled in Toronto where she lived with family for the remainder of her life.
Renée was a loving, dedicated mother, grandmother, wife, sister and friend.
Her children are indebted to her for her strong will, loving guidance and commitment to family. Renée was predeceased by her husband.
She will be greatly missed by those who are left to remember her, especially their children, Marianne (Pat), David (Karen), Michelle (Laurent) and Peter (Jean); grandchildren Jonathan, Chantal (Rhys), André, Anne-Marie (Ryan), Matthew (Abigail) and Michael (Rachel); and great-grandchildren Olympia, Sage, Theodore, Zachary and Sasha.
The family extends their sincere thanks to the staff and caregivers at the Houses of Providence. There will be a Celebration of Life for Renée in Toronto at 3 Wembley Drive, on Saturday, January 27, 2018, 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.
A Memorial Service to inter her ashes will be held at the Pinecrest Cemetery in Ottawa, Ontario in the spring of 2018. In memory of Renée, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Ontario.
