PETRASEK, Dr. Anthony MD, FRCPC  - Peacefully, at St. Joseph's Health Centre on Friday, December 8, 2017 at the age of 92.

Beloved husband of Grace. Loving father of Anthony (Ingrid), Paul, John (Joanne) and Anne.

Cherished grandfather of Katherine, Joseph and Julia.

Tony was born in the Czech Republic and fled to Canada after WWII with his late brother Jerry. He arrived with a strong work ethic and a desire to build a better future, working as a farm labourer to pay for his medical education at University of Toronto.

After graduating in 1953, he embarked on a long and distinguished career as a Physician, which spanned over 50 years. He worked as an Anesthesiologist in Montreal and Pittsburgh, before moving to Toronto in 1970. He served as Chief of Anesthesia first at Scarborough Centenary Hospital, then at St. Joseph's Health Centre where he practiced for 25 years.

This was followed by work as a Palliative Care Physician in Etobicoke before finally retiring at age 85. He dedicated his life to the service of others and always remained true to his Christian beliefs. He was a loving and devoted husband and father who never forgot his humble beginnings. In his spare time, he was an avid gardener who loved the outdoors and cherished every minute he spent at his beloved cottage in Haliburton. He will be greatly missed by his extended family and friends.

Our heartfelt thanks to the staff at Sunrise of Mississauga and SJHC, especially Mercilynn, Loida, and Maria Rugg.

Friends may call at the Turner & Porter Peel Chapel, 2180 Hurontario Street, Mississauga, on Sunday, December 10th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and Monday, December 11th from 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Clement Roman Catholic Church, 409 Markland Drive, Etobicoke, on Tuesday, December 12th at 10 a.m.
