WAHL, Helen Teresa  - Our mother Helen Wahl passed away peacefully on December 9, 2017.

Born August 21, 1923 in Rosiejow, Pinzow, Poland, Helen immigrated to Canada at the age of 7 with her mother Agnes and two of her sisters, Sophie and Laura, to join her father Walter Adamcyzk who had preceded them to this country by two years.

Another sister Wanda was born shortly after in Canada to complete their immediate family. They all proudly became Canadian citizens. Helen played many family roles during her lifetime of 94 plus years.

In addition to being a daughter and a sister, she was the wife of the late Richard Edward Wahl (1917-1984), the great love of her life, whom she met at age 16 and married at age 18. She never remarried after his death, telling us that Dad was the only man she had needed in her life.

Helen was the caring mother of three daughters, Carole (Glen) Gallie, Pat Banel (Joseph) and Judith Wahl. She was grandmother (Babci) to Cathy Gallie, Glen Gallie (Denise) and Melissa Di Vona (Joseph). She was great-grandmother to Darrell Hector (Lina), Jordan Gallie, Noel Kendall and Olivia Di Vona, Tyler and Michael and Sophie Gallie and great-great-grandmother to Anthony Hector and Jordai Gallie.

She was a committed member of the parish of St. Johns Polish National Catholic Church. She helped run the Zakopane Seniors Club at this church for many years, cooking and preparing lunch and snacks for the seniors until she herself was 90 when she reluctantly moved from cooking to just participating in the regular Thursday activities.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at Ridley Funeral Home, 3080 Lakeshore Blvd. West, Etobicoke between 2 and 4 p.m. and 7 and 9 p.m.  A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, December 15, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Johns Polish National Catholic Church at 186 Cowan Ave., Toronto. Mass will be followed by interment in Clarkson. A reception for family and friends will then be held at St Johns Polish National Catholic Church Hall between 2 and 5 p.m. You are welcome to attend any or all parts of this celebration of Helen's life.

Donations in lieu of flowers to the Salvation Army, the Advocacy Centre for the Elderly, or a charity of your choice would be welcome.
