SMITH, Isabel Mary  - In her 92nd year, resident of Christie Gardens, Toronto, passed away with loving family by her side on January 2, 2018 at Toronto Western Hospital after a brief illness.

She was predeceased by her parents Reverend William Harris Wallace and Elsie Gastrell, her husband Trevor Smith (1980) and daughter Diane (1999).

Liz, (as she preferred) was born in Ottawa and raised in Coaticook, Quebec. She attended Moulton College Boarding School in Toronto.

She was a member of Walmer Road Baptist Church, where she played the organ. Here she met her future husband, Trevor Smith who sang in the choir. In 1967 Liz and Trevor started "The Holiday Club", a youth group at Walmer which they ran for many years.

They were a good influence on many young people and several of them, especially Mel Trottier, remained in her life until the end. Liz enjoyed murder mysteries and puzzles of all kinds.

She will be remembered as a generous woman with an outstanding sense of humour, charitable and helpful to the world around her. She loved to give dinner parties and play euchre with her "girls": Dianne, Barb and Anne.

She will be missed by her daughter Patricia Donnelly, son-in-law Bill Donnelly, grandchildren Shannon (Rafael Arenas) and Trevor (Khristina Costales), great-grandchildren Lylaa Donnelly and Benny Arenas, her sister Dorothy, niece Anne Shepherd (Bob Marcy), great-nephews John, Michael and James, nephew Peter Shepherd and wife Alex.

Liz's family is deeply appreciative of the staff of Christie Gardens.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
