REID, John Stewart - March 14, 1926 – March 3, 2018
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of John Stewart Reid on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at the age of 91.
John ("Jack," as he preferred to be called) was the cherished husband of 60 amazing years to the late Lorna Reid (nee Skinner), who predeceased him in 2016.
He was the beloved father of the late Heather Hopps (nee Reid), Jeffrey, Kathryn (George Phillips) and Sheila Hall (Alan) and loving brother of Margaret. Jack was also treasured by his grandchildren Clara, Jed and Benjamin Phillips.
Originally from Belfast, Northern Ireland, Jack came to Toronto in the mid-1950s, where he made his home, met his wife and raised his family. An aficionado of history, logic and science, he was a voracious reader with a perennially inquisitive mind.
He greatly enjoyed his work as an Electrical Engineer, relishing the challenges and adventures that came with traversing the globe tackling hydroelectric projects.
He was a passionate and lifelong traveller and in his later years was most content seeking out new destinations for Lorna and him to explore. He will be deeply missed, loved and remembered forever. A private family remembrance will be held in his honour.
