VAZ, Damascene Vincent  - July 6, 1932 - March 6, 2018

Passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at Michael Garron Hospital (former Toronto East General) after a 4 1/2 year struggle with ALS at both Sunnybrook and Michael Garron (coincidentally, his mother also died on March 6th decades earlier).

It's of comfort that after death, he looked so peaceful and had a very slight smile on his face. Damsey leaves behind his wife of almost 52 years, Sheila, and his two sons Darryl and Russell. Damsey was the son of John Baptist Vaz and Candida Madeira.

He was the youngest brother of the late Joseph (late Amy), late Florence (late Antoinette), late Blandina (late Conrad), Gaby (late Angela), Julie (Camilo) and late Basil (Blanche).

A loving husband and father, Damsey will be greatly missed by all his friends and family. Finally, the family would like to thank the caring hospital staff at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and Michael Garron Hospital. They were very fond of Damsey and treated him like family. Though he was vented since 2013, he never failed to "pucker up" for the nurses, doctors, PCA's and visiting family and friends.

Visitation will be on Sunday, March 11, 2018 at Paul O'Connor Funeral Home, 1939 Lawrence Avenue East, Scarborough, Ontario M1R 2Y8, over two sessions: 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Lawrence Martyr Catholic Church, 2210 Lawrence Avenue East, Scarborough, Ontario M1P 2P9, on Monday, March 12, 2018 at 12:30 p.m.

We love you, we have always loved you and we will forever love you.
