Bottomley KarenBOTTOMLEY, Karen  - Our wonderful wife and mother, Karen Jeanne Bottomley passed peacefully on Friday, March 2, 2018 after a long battle with early onset dementia.

She was 67 years old.

Born in Hawaii, Karen lived across the east and west coast of the US throughout her childhood.

Graduating in Massachusetts, Karen pursued a passion for history at both Loma Linda University and the University of Toronto, earning two masters and completing her PhD coursework.

She also lived and conducted research in Spain. For 30 years, Karen lived in Lacombe, Alberta, teaching history and business at Burman University (formerly Canadian University College). She was an enthusiastic and caring teacher who is fondly remembered for making European history charismatic and dynamic.

Her students and friends will miss her welcoming spirit and open hearted kindness to everyone she met in life. Karen was the Dean of Arts at the time of her retirement.

She is survived by her husband, Richard and daughters, Alison and Cynthia, all of Lacombe.

She has an older brother, David in California.

There will be memorial celebration of her life later this year in Lacombe, Alberta. She awaits that blessed morn.

Memorial donations can be made to Alzheimer Society of Canada at www.alzheimer.ca.
